01Overview

BFD Jazz Maple is built around a maple kit with two kicks and three toms, recorded with the warm, sustaining character that maple shells are known for. The developer says the kit suits jazz, fusion and funk, and that it works in other styles that call for expressive drums. The expansion also bundles a snare, cymbals, artist presets and five Groove palettes from Platinum Samples' Real Jazz MIDI collection, so you get a complete acoustic setup inside BFD3.

Maple Kit Sound and Included Components

The core of BFD Jazz Maple is a Yamaha Maple Custom kit with 2 kicks and 3 toms. Maple is generally associated with a warm, focused tone and good sustain, and BFD says the kit's voice is particularly suited to jazz, fusion and funk.

The expansion adds a bonus Yamaha Roy Haynes snare, taken from BFD Signature Snares Vol.1, along with Sabian cymbals from BFD Jazz & Funk Collection. BFD says these were recorded in similar studio conditions to the main kit, so they should blend with it.

Groove Palettes, Presets and Requirements

BFD Jazz Maple includes five 'Real Jazz' Groove palettes from Platinum Samples. These are groove starting points you can audition and adapt inside BFD3.

The pack also contains presets from Marcas Lancaster and Joe Gore. It requires BFD3 and an internet connection for download and authorization, and needs about 1.2 GB of hard drive space for a full install.
