BFD Horsepower: Americana Drum Expansion for BFD3

The kits are built around a Gretsch USA Custom drum set, with Sabian hats and Zildjian cymbals. BFD says the recordings balance vintage grit with modern punch.

Character mics and several processed channels give you control over the sound. The set includes warm ribbon-mic room ambience, saturated vintage tones, custom plate processing and a trash can mic for lo-fi dirt. Snares were damped with paper and tea towels, while the rest of the kit was left untreated and tuned to the room for an open, vibrant tone.

Stick and brush kits each come in three versions: one natural and two with different processing styles. That gives six kits in total for songwriting and production.

The Gretsch snare can be used with its snares on or off, which changes the snare sound without switching kits. The character mics add mixing flexibility, so you can shape the drums to sit in a track. The developer notes high levels of detail for playability with electronic drums.
