01Overview

XenoVerb is a reverb processor from Audiority built around a wide range of algorithms. It combines classic room, hall and plate models with more experimental options such as Springy, Shimmer, Bode and Formant. The developer presents the interface as clean and simple, so the focus stays on the sound. Controls for pre delay, diffusion, modulation and tone shaping, along with reverb freeze and loop and a limiter, cover the usual needs of a reverb in a mix or in sound design. The plugin ships with more than 250 presets as starting points.

Reverb Algorithms for Mixing and Sound Design

XenoVerb's 13 algorithms span a broad range. Room and Room B suit small studios through to large clubs, while Hall and Large Hall cover everything from concert venues to much bigger spaces. Plate 1 and Plate 2 are based on plate designs from late-1970s hardware, and Plate XL is a denser version with a pitch-shifting vibrato as its modulator.

The creative end of the list includes Springy, which is a spring-tank model with a dirty, metallic ring, and Shimmer, which places a dual pitch shifter in the feedback loop for an evolving, harmonizing tail. Bode puts a frequency shifter in the feedback path for metallic resonances and drones, and Formant adds a formant filter before the reverb tank.

Workflow and Who It Is For

XenoVerb is built for producers who want one reverb plugin that covers both natural spaces and experimental textures. The Pre Delay, Diffusion, Modulation and Tone Control parameters let you shape each algorithm, and the Freeze/Loop function holds a tail for building ambient passages.

The developer describes the Hall and Large Hall types as suitable for pianos, drums and vocals, and Flow as useful for pads, guitars and creative sound design. Because the plugin is available in VST3, VST2, AU, AAX and CLAP formats, it can be used across most common digital audio workstations.
