01Overview

Weiss EQ MP is an equalizer aimed at mixing rather than mastering. It uses a 1:1 code port of the minimum phase algorithm from Weiss EQ1 and keeps the same seven full-range bands, with a cut and boost range of -39 to +18 dB. Its expanded filter slopes and linked or unlinked L/R and M/S processing extend what the original offers for mix work. The plugin is available in VST3, VST2, AU, AAX and RTAS formats on Windows and macOS.

Sound and Processing Character

Weiss EQ MP runs on double-precision 64-bit processing with internal oversampling, using Weiss low-noise filter algorithms. The developer describes it as surgically precise and ultra-transparent, and the seven bands cover the full frequency range.

The Q range runs from 0.2 to 650, which allows both very broad tonal shaping and narrow corrective cuts. Continuous, unstepped frequency parameters give finer control than stepped settings.

Workflow, Filter Slopes and Interface

Beyond the EQ1 filter slopes of 0 dB, 6 dB and 12 dB, Weiss EQ MP adds 24 dB, 48 dB and 96 dB slopes. Linked and unlinked L/R processing and M/S processing support stereo and mid-side mixing work.

The interface is resizable and includes a Dark Mode, so you can show only the bands you need or enlarge the window for detailed editing. Latency is listed at 17 samples at 44.1 kHz, with a light CPU load.
