01Overview

Chandler Limited Curve Bender Mastering EQ brings a native version of a mastering grade analog equalizer to your DAW. Softube models the germanium and inductor circuits of the original unit, which the developer traces back to British console equalizer designs. The plugin adds Mid/Side processing and channel linking to the original hardware workflow, so it can be used on a master bus, instrument groups or individual tracks.

Sound and Character of the Curve Bender EQ

Softube describes the Curve Bender as gentle and carefully designed, with a silky top end and tight low end. The developer states that the EQ circuits are based on console designs from the Abbey Road Studios desks, and that the plugin extends the original's two bands to four.

The filter section includes fifty-one fixed filter points, along with additional Q and gain options and low and high pass filters. These additions are meant to give mastering engineers more control while keeping the analog character of the original.

Workflow, Mid/Side Processing and Presets

Mid/Side processing and channel linking are built into the plugin, which lets you shape the mid and side signals separately. Because the unit can be inserted in several places in a mix, it can be used across instrument groups as well as the master bus.

Softube has included presets created by engineers Joe Chicarelli, Tony Maserati, Howard Willing, Kevin Kadish and Maor Appelbaum. These are starting points that you can adjust to suit your material.
