Wavesynth Pitch Black: Bass-Focused Kontakt Instrument by Karanyi Sounds

Karanyi Sounds describes Wavesynth Pitch Black as almost as flexible as an analog synth. The instrument includes over 60 parameters, all of which can be assigned to MIDI controllers through MIDI learn.

The layout combines wavetable position and envelopes with a Prophet-type low-pass filter and a Moog-type low-pass filter. Two LFOs handle wavetable position and the Prophet-type filter, giving you modulation options for movement across a patch.

Roll, the built-in intelligent randomizer, generates new patches quickly. It is designed for creating sharp pluck sounds, and it can be a fast starting point when you want to move beyond the included presets.

The library includes more than 50 artist presets, which the developer says were carefully designed. The sound focus is on bass, with synths and other elements also included.

The instrument has three customizable effects: dimension, tape delay and hall reverb. A master section adds EQ, a compressor and a limiter, so you can shape the output without leaving the instrument.

The samples were recorded at 96kHz and 24-bit and converted to 44.1kHz and 16-bit. Sources include classic analog and FM synths. Karanyi Sounds recommends it for modern techno, indie dance, retro video game and post-apocalyptic sci-fi productions.
