01Overview

V-Pan brings the Vari-Pan circuit from the Rhodes MK8 into a plugin for use in your DAW. The developer positions it for keyboards, synths, guitars, vocals and FX, where it adds stereo movement and depth to a sound. Its rate range runs from very slow panning up into audio rates, which opens up synth-like and ring-mod-style textures. Left and right LED indicators show the panning position as it moves. Waveform Slew and Smooth controls let you reshape the panning curve, and BPM sync locks the motion to your project tempo.

Panning Character and Controls

The core of V-Pan is a continuously variable panning waveform, so you can move smoothly between different panning shapes rather than choosing from a fixed set. The Depth control sets how far the signal moves across the stereo field. Rate covers a wide span, from super-slow movement to audio-rate modulation, which is where the effect starts to behave more like ring modulation.

Waveform Slew and Smooth controls let you further shape the panning curve. A parameter value readout shows the exact setting of each control, which helps when you want to repeat a sound or match it across sessions.

Left and right LED indicators show where the signal sits in the stereo field at any moment.

Workflow and Sync

BPM sync lets you lock the panning rate to your project tempo, so the movement lines up with the beat. This is useful for rhythmic stereo motion on keys, guitars or synth pads, and for keeping the effect consistent when you change tempo.

The developer suggests wearing headphones to hear the full panning effect, which is worth keeping in mind when judging the width of the motion on speakers.

V-Pan is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats.
