Sound and Character of the Four Rhodes Models
The collection covers a range of Rhodes eras. The Mark 1 Stage 73 is known for a versatile tone that works from mellow to bright. The Sparkletop 73 has an earthy, bell-like sound, and the developer ties it to the classic Rhodes tone of late-1960s and early-1970s soul, jazz and rock.
The MKV 73 is described as having a redesigned hammer action and damper design that expand its dynamic range, from a smooth, mellow tone to a more powerful bark. The MK7 73 uses a fibreglass shell and is noted as the first production Rhodes with comprehensive MIDI output, giving it a funky, dynamic character.
