01Overview

TRANSFORCE takes a different approach to transient shaping. Instead of pushing the attack and sustain together, it splits them into two signals you can shape independently. Each module includes a parametric EQ with multiple bands and its own saturation stage. A Spectral Slider separates tonal content from broadband noise across both sections, and Stylize, Clipper and Limiter modules handle the final shaping. Boom positions it for sound design, with music production as a second use.

Independent Attack and Sustain Processing

TRANSFORCE divides each sound into attack and sustain, and gives each one its own parametric EQ across multiple bands and its own saturation. This lets you add weight or clarity to the front of a sound while leaving its tail untouched.

The Spectral Slider adds a tonal-versus-broadband split to this workflow. You can process the tonal resonances of a signal differently from its noise content, separately across attack and sustain. The transient section includes hold, decay and a sidechain trigger input, and look-ahead transient detection can be adjusted by the user.

Sound Design and Music Production Use

Boom builds TRANSFORCE around sound design work such as drums, footsteps, impacts, dialogue and whooshes. Presets are drawn from real production scenarios, and AudioSuite support covers batch processing of SFX material in Pro Tools.

The same controls apply to music material where attack and sustain behave differently, including drum buses, guitars and piano. The Stylize module adds low-end body, the Clipper adds weight, and the Limiter handles output level.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What is TRANSFORCE used for?

TRANSFORCE is a transient shaper for shaping the attack and sustain of sounds separately. Boom designed it for sound design work such as drums, footsteps, impacts and dialogue, and it also applies to music production material with a defined attack.

Which formats and operating systems does TRANSFORCE support?

TRANSFORCE is available in VST2, AU, AAX and Standalone formats, and runs on Windows and macOS. It is 64-bit.

What do I need to use TRANSFORCE?

The developer notes that TRANSFORCE requires a free iLok Account and an audio host that supports VST 2.4 or 3, AU or AAX plugins. It does not work as a standalone application, despite the Standalone format listing.
