01Overview

Space Controller Studio is built for producers who find knob-based panning slow when working in surround or 3D sound. You connect a mobile device to your DAW and point it where you want a sound to go. The developer describes the approach as a patent-pending way to pan sound from stereo to any immersive format, whether you work in a home studio or on a mixing stage. Panning Modes and Spatial Controls

Space Controller Studio offers four modes: Mono, Dual, Rotation and Symmetric. Mono and Dual place and move each source independently. Rotation controls and turns the entire sound field, and Symmetric mode is designed to control the width of a 5.1 recording.

Each source has a size parameter. Larger sizes make a sound reach more speakers, while smaller sizes keep it in fewer speakers. You can choose Cube or Sphere panning depending on your workflow, and lock individual position parameters, either as coordinates in Cube mode or as angles in Sphere mode.

Output Formats and Immersive Support

The panner supports output from stereo to multichannel and immersive layouts, including 5.1, HOA, binaural, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos. Additional layouts include Quad, 4.0, LCR, LCRS, 5.0.2, 5.1.2, 5.0.4, 5.1.4, 7.0.4, 7.0.6, 7.1.6, 9.0.8, 9.1.8 and 11.1.8.

The plugin also lets you control the LFE channel, switch between top and rear views for visual cues on sound placement, and copy and paste automation to Dolby Atmos Objects. Sound Particles lists support for up to 128 communication links.
