01Overview

Sines Synthesizer uses four independent sine-wave oscillators as its starting point. Waveshaping controls bend those basic waves into sawtooth, square, pulse and triangle shapes, along with more complex forms. Each oscillator has its own sub and super oscillators, so you can layer octaves without leaving the same section. The developer describes the synth as capable of everything from smooth pads to bright, FM-style plucks, and it can be used for subtractive, additive or modulator-carrier sound design.

Best for

  • Evolving synth pads
  • FM-style plucks
  • Additive organ tones
  • Bright lead sounds
  • Percussive synth tones

Sound Design With Sine-Wave Oscillators

Each of the four oscillators offers six waveshaper controls: feedback, phase, width, shape, wavefold and drive. Each control can be assigned a modulation source, which lets the waveform change over time.

Phase modulation and ratio dials let the oscillators work as a modulator and carrier pair, which supports four-operator DX-style FM synthesis. The oscillator utility function can copy, paste, randomise or reset any oscillator's settings, which is useful when you are building layered patches.

Filters, Modulation and Effects

The resonant multimode filter offers 6, 12, 18 or 24 dB/oct lowpass, highpass, bandpass and notch modes. Four tempo-syncable LFOs provide 14 waveforms, and ADSR envelopes for the filter and amplifier include velocity controls.

A four-slot mod matrix can modulate nearly every parameter. The four effects sections cover distortion and sample-crushing, a mod FX section with phaser, chorus, flanger or rotary speaker, delay with stereo, ping-pong or tape modes, and five reverb types. An eight-band graphic EQ and an arpeggiator with tempo sync are also included.
