Sound Character and Filter Emulation

Eight Voice centers on an emulation of the Oberheim multi-mode filter, which Cherry Audio says was recreated by award-winning synth designer Mark Barton (MRB). The developer describes the result as a circuit-correct recreation of the original state-variable filter.

Each of the eight voice modules has two oscillators, so the instrument can cover everything from single-voice leads to large stacked poly pads. Two separate poly assign buses let you build layered poly patches on top of one another.

Workflow, Voice Linking and Keyboard Assignment

The original Eight Voice was hard to program because each of its voice modules had its own controls. Voice Linking groups those controls so you can set up homogeneous poly sounds without adjusting every module separately.

Focus buttons enlarge any section of the interface, which helps when editing small controls. Mono and poly keyboard assignment modes, along with independent key range settings, allow layering and zoning across the keyboard. The plugin also has an additional LFO with six waveforms and tempo sync, an eight-step mini sequencer with a 1/2-step quantizer, and reverb and modulation delay effects with tempo sync. All controls support full MIDI control and DAW automation.
