01Overview

The Core Upgrade is for owners of Voltage Modular Ignite who want the larger Core collection. It adds the fundamental tools of modular synthesis, including oscillators, filters, envelope generators, amplifiers, arpeggiators, sequencers and mixers, along with effects, samplers, polyphonic modules and a drum sequencer. Cherry Audio also includes the Misfit Audio Electro Drums package, which contributes electronic drum and percussion modules. The code you receive after purchase can only be redeemed by existing Ignite owners.

Modules and Sound Design Tools

Voltage Modular Core provides more than 90 modules, covering oscillators, filters, envelope generators, amplifiers, arpeggiators, sequencers and mixers. The collection also includes effects, a sampler, a large set of polyphonic modules, a vintage-style oscillator and filter, and the Super Oscillator, Super LFO and Super Envelope Generator modules.

The Electro Drums add-on contributes 15 modules, including classic electronic drum and percussion sounds and an eight-channel Drum Trigger Sequencer with pattern and song modes.

Workflow and Audio Processing

Cherry Audio says the interface supports unlimited pop-up mults on all inputs and outputs, moving modules or groups of modules, and cables that can be rerouted at any time. Cable signal flow indicators and visual feedback on the control panels help track patches.

The developer states that all audio processing uses 64-bit double-precision math and that modules are zero-latency and operate on individual samples. Owners who update to Voltage Modular 2.5 also receive features such as unlimited cables per jack, Busses, variations per patch and an integrated recording section that outputs 32-bit floating-point files.

Presets and Expansion

The package includes 551 Core presets and 94 Electro Drums presets, which together cover more than 600 professionally programmed sounds. Patches and cabinets can be exchanged between Windows and macOS.

A built-in module browser lets you buy and install additional modules and sound presets from inside Voltage Modular.
