SGX-2: Premium Grand Piano Plugin by KORG

Each of the five piano models is sampled across all 88 keys in loop-free stereo, so the natural decay of each note is preserved. KORG says independent damper and sympathetic string resonances reproduce the harmonic richness of the instruments, and that pedal, keybed and release noises are included.

Up to 12 velocity layers per key let the sound respond to touch, from soft pianissimo to loud fortissimo. The Italian Grand model includes una corda support, which shifts the timbre and volume when the soft pedal is pressed.

The German Grand is described as deep and balanced, the Japanese Grand as bright and articulate, and the Italian Grand as rich and lyrical. The Japanese Small Grand is intimate and detailed, and the Japanese Upright has more informal character.

The edit panel gives access to three insert effect slots and a dedicated reverb. The 35 effect types include choruses, flangers, phasers, tape echoes, reverse delays and shimmer reverbs.
