Sound Shaping and Active Equalization
The SA-2 divides its processing into five bands of strategic active equalization. Each band has its own threshold control, which sets the signal level at which that band starts to act on the sound. Enable buttons let you audition each band on its own, which makes it quicker to hear what a given band is doing.
Two mode selectors shape the behavior. One controls the ballistics of the active equalization, and the other places the five bands at preset points across the frequency spectrum. Input and output gain controls handle overall level adjustment.
McDSP positions the processor for dialog, vocals and general timbre adjustment, and notes that it can also serve as a de-esser.
