Sound Engine and Vocal Character
Pipa's synth engine is a crossover between a wavetable synthesizer and a granulating synthesizer. Instead of playing ordinary samples or filtering oscillators through formant filters, it draws on thousands of wavetables taken from real vocal recordings.
Because the wavetables are phase aligned, the developer says the instrument can morph between them without abrupt changes. This allows continuous transitions between pitch, formants and dynamics, which Klevgrand presents as a key strength for expressive melodic parts. Both male and female voice options are available.
