01Overview

PHAT 2 Upgrade from PHAT 1 extends UJAM's virtual drummer for hip-hop, funk and urban production. Grooves, Patterns and Drum Kit Control

PHAT works with 200 presets and 60 musical styles containing 1380 rhythmic patterns. You can combine these patterns to build a beat from smooth, soulful grooves to heavier, pumping rhythms.

The plugin offers 5 drum kits and 6 character presets that shape the sound. You can build your own kits with the kit editing options.

Individual volume controls let you balance elements such as kick and snare. Swing, feel and humanize controls adjust the micro timing of the performance.

What Changed in Version 2

Version 2 adds 30 new styles and 150 presets. Phrases can be dragged straight into your DAW, and the plugin supports multiple audio outputs for separate processing of drum elements.

The mixer section has been enhanced, and a new master section adds saturation and maximizing. The interface has also been redesigned, and the developer says it is easier on the eyes.

The upgrade is intended for owners of PHAT 1.

It is an upgrade for owners of PHAT 1. The full version of PHAT 2 is also available for buyers who do not own the earlier plugin.

What formats and operating systems does PHAT 2 support?

It is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats on Windows and macOS, in 64-bit versions. Windows 8 or later and macOS 10.12 to macOS 12 are listed, and UJAM notes that the AU 2 version works only with Logic Pro X and newer.

What do I need to run it?
