01Overview

CARBON is built around a virtual guitarist that aims to cover genres from super-quantized electronic accents to large riffs in game soundtracks and subtle textures in film scores. Its core sounds are heavily distorted but remain organic, and its Instrument Mode gives you a playable 8-string guitar. Developer UJAM describes it as the first virtual guitarist with an Instrument Mode, and it works in both sound design and conventional band or production contexts.

Sound Character and Distortion Algorithms

CARBON's sound is built on its Ultra Amp and Future Distortion algorithms, which are designed for strong overdrive. UJAM says the edgy digital effects can be pushed a long way while the underlying texture stays organic and raw. The sounds can be heavy and aggressive when driven hard, or lighter and more delicate when dialed down.

Because the instrument remains playable and musical, UJAM positions it to sit alongside synths, drum machines, orchestras and band musicians in the same mix.

Layerer and Finisher Workflow

The Layerer feature combines up to four virtual guitarists on a soundstage, letting you control width and size from a single mono riff to a wide, layered sound.

The Finisher multi-effect rack includes 20 effect algorithms arranged into 100 presets. You can control it live or automate it with a single knob, which makes it useful for building movement across a section.
