PHAT 2 lets you tweak the performance with individual volume controls for each element of the kit, such as kick and snare. Simple controls for swing, feel and human timing let you adjust how tight or loose the final performance sounds.

The mixer section has been enhanced, and a new master section adds saturation and a maximizer. You can also build your own drum kits with kit editing options. The developer describes the kit set as five drum kits paired with six character presets, which you can combine to move from smooth and soulful to huge and pumping.

The plugin contains 60 musical styles with 1380 rhythmic patterns that you can combine and stitch together. Version 2 adds 30 new styles and 150 presets, and phrases can be dragged and dropped into your DAW.

PHAT 2 supports multiple audio outputs, which lets you route kit elements separately for mixing. It suits hip-hop producers who want drum tracks quickly, and it can also serve producers working on funk and soul-influenced material.
