01Overview

PEEL STEMS 2 is designed to work on a mixed track without leaving your session. Insert it on the audio, and it separates the material into four stems you can mute, level or process independently. The developer says the second version lowers latency by 49% compared with version 1 and improves separation quality. A dedicated PEEL Focus EQ adds spectral isolation, and a secondary output lets you route isolated audio to its own channel for further processing in supported hosts.

Real-Time Stem Separation and Control

Insert PEEL STEMS 2 on a mixed track and it splits the audio into Drums, Bass, Vocals and Other. Each stem can be muted to remove an element from a song, or leveled to rebalance an existing mix.

The Isolation slider adjusts separation precision, and the Soundfield Display shows the frequency content and stereo placement of each stem so you can see what the plugin is extracting. zplane states that the plugin has a DAW-compensated latency of 245 ms at 44.1 kHz.

PEEL Focus EQ and Dual Output Routing

The PEEL Focus EQ isolates or extracts selected frequency ranges and stereo information. You can use it to add reverb only to the middle of a signal or saturation only to the low end.

In Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Reason and Reaper, the Dual Output feature routes the PEEL Focus EQ to a secondary output for independent processing.
