01Overview

Oud v1.5 brings the oud, an old Persian string instrument with many nylon strings, into Kontakt. Cinematique Instruments built the library around an organic sound and feel and added features that go beyond the traditional instrument. The developer describes the result as a versatile instrument with a strong oriental character. Version 1.5 adds presets, an arpeggiator and further effects, along with an updated design.

Sound, Articulations and Slide Control

The instrument includes four true articulations: rischa, thumb, mallet and hammer. An additional slide modulation adds further playing options, and the library includes separate slide and tremolo articulations.

Cinematique Instruments added an intelligent slide-up and slide-down articulation, along with a tremolo engine. You can also shape the envelope to change the character of each note.

Built-In Effects and Presets

Oud v1.5 includes rotary, cabinet, wave, delay, reverb and tone (EQ) effects. The reverb section offers five types: room, close, church, space and infinite.

Several presets show the developer's preferred ways of tweaking the oud. Version 1.5 adds new presets along with the arpeggiator and effects introduced in this update.
