Wire patching and sound routing
Nest splits its work across two pages. On the Wire page you build a patch from modules, with some handling numbers such as pitch, velocity and modulation, and others handling gates and triggers such as rhythms. The patch can be sent to up to 8 MIDI voice slots and recalled through 12 scenes, which makes it possible to switch between song sections.
On the Sound page, those 8 voices are assigned freely to 4 channels. Each channel can be an internal synth, a VST plugin or MIDI out. You could layer an 8-voice chord, or split the voices into drums, a chord and a bassline. A reverb sits at the end of the chain, and the multiple audio outputs let each sound channel and the reverb go to its own DAW channel.
