How MetaPiano Creates Its Piano Sound
Sampleson describes MetaPiano as built on Spectral Modeling, a method it contrasts with physical modelling because it is based on real samples. The developer says the engine maps timbre components such as releases, hammer and key noises, the main timbre and resonance, and recreates them through Spectral Modeling.
Because the sound is generated on the fly, each note is rendered as you play it. Sampleson says the Spectral Engine reproduces the full length of real notes without loops, with decays lasting a minute or more on the lowest keys.
