01Overview

Magnetic focuses on the warm, wobbling character of vintage tape recordings. Its core is a set of eight electric piano sounds, including patches based on a Prophet 5, a CZ-101 and a Hohner Organetta, alongside tape-style wow and flutter, chorus, vibrato and a range of effects. The instrument is built for Kontakt and aims at producers who want worn, nostalgic keys rather than pristine studio tones.

Electric Piano Sounds and Tape Character

The centerpiece of Magnetic is its eight electric piano sounds. The developer re-recorded several electric pianos, ran them through Roland, Dynacord or Revox tape machines, or drew on its synthesizer collection. The lineup covers a classic electric piano recorded through a Echolette tape delay, a budget supermarket keyboard, a Prophet 5 patch, a CZ-101 FM synth sound, a Kawai synth patch and a Hohner Organetta fan organ recorded via an Uher tape machine.

The tape simulation tools shape these sounds further. Wow and flutter add pitch wobble, while the integrated chorus and the vibrato module, driven by an LFO, add movement. The amount and frequency of the vibrato are adjustable.

Noise Layers, Effects and Reverb

A noise layer lets you add vintage texture to any of the electric pianos. Magnetic includes 11 noise flavors drawn from tape machines and vinyl turntables, and the tone of the noise can be adjusted to fit the sound.

For processing, the instrument includes a compressor, bit reduction, drive and a multimode filter for dirtying up or thinning the sound in the box. Nine reverb types are offered, built on a convolution reverb with eight homemade impulse responses, ranging from basic room sounds to sound design options such as infinite and clouds settings.
