KR-55C Drum Machine is a software drum machine plugin from Cherry Audio that combines the preset rhythms of Korg's KR-55A and KR-55B. It includes 240 factory patterns, intros and fills, plus 200 additional rhythm and sound presets.
KR-55C Drum Machine is an emulation of the KR-55 family, the post-punk era rhythm units from Korg. Cherry Audio's version brings together the original patterns of both the KR-55A and KR-55B in one instrument, alongside 200 newly added rhythm and sound presets. An X0X-style step sequencer, a song mode and per-instrument sound editing let you program grooves in a familiar workflow, while mixer, effects and MIDI features fit it into a modern DAW setup.
Each instrument has its own panel with Parametric EQ, Tone, Tune and Decay settings, so you can shape sounds from subtle tweaks to more extreme edits. The mixer gives each instrument independent level, pan and solo/mute controls.
An Effects Routing Matrix lets you send any combination of instruments through overdrive, flanger/chorus, delay and reverb using toggle buttons. A global master compressor and a global bus limiter handle the overall mix.
Programming works in the classic X0X style with 16- or 24-step patterns, and you can enter steps in real time with the Trigger button. Song Mode chains up to 99 patterns with 99 steps per song. Swing percentage, copy-and-paste of patterns and instruments, and external MIDI triggering with velocity sensitivity and user-assignable note mapping are also included.
In the plugin version, patterns can be dragged into DAW MIDI tracks, and individual outputs let you process each instrument separately. Sync, oversampling and full MIDI learn and automation are available for all controls.
