FM Algorithms and Operator Control
KorgNode's engine is built on four operators, each a sine oscillator that can frequency-modulate the others. The 24 algorithms define how the operators connect. Individual frequency ratio selection for operators 2, 3 and 4, together with variable operator detune, lets you move from simple harmonic tones to inharmonic, metallic and bell-like timbres.
The engine runs internally at 96000 kHz, and an antialiasing filter suppresses unwanted frequencies. Sinevibes says this keeps audio quality high even in the upper octave key range, where FM engines often alias.
