01Overview

Horizen brings together four sampler engines, four dual-oscillator wavetable and virtual analog synth engines, and two loop player engines in one instrument. Each voice can use multi-mode filters and FM, and the plugin includes over 850 voices and more than 350 presets. Its XY pad, drag-and-drop modulators and user-defined LFO shapes give sound designers direct control over how the voices blend and move.

Sound Design Architecture and Modulation

The 10-voice architecture lets you layer sampled sources with synth and loop voices. Each voice has its own multi-mode filter, and FM is available on all voices.

Modulation runs through drag-and-drop modulators. You can choose from the LFO preset menu or draw your own LFO shapes, then drag them onto targets around the instrument. Up to six LFO modulators can be used, and a single LFO can be assigned to as many targets as you like. Two key modulators, two velocity modulators and two CC modulators are also included, and user-drawn shapes can run in one-shot mode or lock to the DAW tempo.

Performance Tools and XY Pad

The XY pad lets you drag any of the 10 sound sources to a corner and blend them with simple gestures. These movements can be recorded, so you can perform without holding the mouse. Gestures can also be saved and loaded into other patches.

Two dual arpeggiators can be assigned to individual voices, and multi-FX send and master effect slots are available for processing the output.
