01Overview

MYTH is built around exploration rather than programming. Instead of building a patch from static oscillators and layers of modulation, you drag in audio and the plugin re-synthesizes it as an IRIS that you shape with the TRANSFORMER dials. Its modules are chained from left to right, much like a pedal board, so there are no patch cables to route. The developer says the aim is to recreate the hands-on feel of playing hardware, with the whole system behaving like one organism.

Re-Synthesis and Sound Character

Tracktion describes MYTH's core as a paradigm shift from classical synthesis. Rather than relying on static oscillator waves that you must process with filters and modulators, MYTH takes an audio sample and re-synthesizes it, keeping the natural variation and richness of the source. The TRANSFORMER dials let you work with that material directly. Classic LFOs, envelopes and filters are also available if you want them.

The plugin can also be used as a virtual analog subtractive synth. Its modules include trainable resonators, which you train by dropping in a sample, so acoustic resonances can be added alongside synthesized tones.

Modular Workflow and Modulation

MYTH uses a modular layout without cables. Modules are chained from left to right, which keeps signal flow easy to follow. The randomisation system can freeze sections so they stay unchanged while others move. You can also breed new presets from a selection of parent presets, or browse presets and apply their character over your own sample.

The modulation system is intuitive, and full MPE support lets expressive controllers shape the sound. MTS-ESP support adds microtonal tuning.
