01Overview

Delta-V SpaceCraft brings granular synthesis to the desktop as a plugin. It is the desktop version of an iOS app from Delta-V Audio. Its two parallel granular engines control grain frequency and length, sample position, and pitch or ring modulation, with stereo reverb and filtering. Samples can be dragged into the interface or recorded live, and each one becomes a playable MIDI or MPE instrument.

Granular Engine and Grain Sequencing

Grain pitch is set by an arpeggiated note and grain sequencer grid. The developer says it covers a range of styles, from classic granular effects to layered sample textures and rhythmic patterns. Over 24 scales are included for melodic work.

The grain control XY pad moves between granular chords and drones on one end and arpeggiated rhythmic sequences on the other. The engine has been upgraded to higher fidelity DSP and can run up to eight times the number of grains, depending on your CPU.

Single-Page Layout and MPE Playback

All controls sit on one page, so you can start sound design without setting up parameter mappings first. The interface is multitouch compatible, and fifteen colour themes change the visual display.

With an MPE controller, per-note pressure, pitch bend (Glide) and grain position modulation (Slide) let you play expressive pads and melodies. Slide moves the grain position across the sample, so the timbral changes in the sample shape the sound. Up to 16 notes can sound at once.
