01Overview

Chordophones gathers the Hopkin strings Soundiron has released so far and adds a new instrument, the Stroked Zither. Each instrument is built from unusual materials, including wood, steel, styrofoam, water and rubber, and each has its own tonal character and several microphone positions. The library is delivered as a Kontakt instrument that runs in the free Kontakt Player or full Kontakt 8.1 or later, with a modular interface for shaping sound.

Sound Shaping and Kontakt Controls

The Kontakt interface provides automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, coarse and fine pitch, articulation switching, cross-fading and layering.

An adaptable LFO system offers selectable shapes, modulation targets, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. Twelve lowpass, highpass and FX filters can be assigned to modulation sources such as velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and step-sequencer control.

An arpeggiator with a velocity table, direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration controls is included, along with a key and scale lock to keep melodies within common scales.

Modular FX Rack and Reverb

A modular FX rack panel offers 27 DSP effect modules that can be assigned to any of eight slots in any order. Included modules cover phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cabinet simulators, compressors, EQ and rotator effects.

The reverb section includes convolution impulse responses for 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor spaces, plus 40 custom FX impulses. The library also ships with FX rack chain presets and over 150 custom FX presets to start from.

It is available in VST2, AU, AAX and Kontakt formats. It runs on Windows 7 or higher and macOS 10.12 or higher, and is delivered as a digital download that requires a broadband connection.
