Sound, Microphones and Moods

The library includes five sections: six first violins, four second violins, four violas, four celli and three basses. The full ensemble stacks all 21 players in octaves for a dense, bright tone.

Each section offers six microphone positions, including close mics and the room sound of EastWest Studio 2. You can mix close, mid and surround mics to set how much depth the strings have, or mute the room mics for a more direct sound.

The Classic, Soft and Epic moods shape the overall feel. Soft suits detailed, intimate writing, Classic gives a traditional studio orchestral sound, and Epic produces a larger cinematic sound.

Workflow and Hardware Requirements

The instrument runs on the Opus engine, which lets you download individual sections or the full set. Mac requires OS X 10.13 or later, 16 GB of memory, 160 GB of disk space and a quad-core CPU at 2.7 GHz or faster. Windows requires Windows 10 with ASIO sound drivers and the same memory, disk and CPU figures.

The Atmos-ready design supports Atmos mixes in DAWs that support Atmos, according to the developer.
