Hollywood Fantasy Winds: Celtic and Fantasy Woodwind Sample Library by EastWest Sounds

The collection includes two high and two low Irish whistles, two Renaissance flutes, three Uilleann pipes and four ocarinas. Each ensemble offers several articulations, including legato slurs, sustains with different vibratos, shorts of various lengths, and flutters and glissandos.

The developer describes the Irish whistles as well suited to topline melodies, and the low whistle as a way to extend the range of a standard whistle with a warmer, airier tone. The ocarinas are presented as a soft, flexible option for passages where the whistles and pipes sound too sharp.

Each instrument is recorded with four microphone positions. Close captures detail, Mid adds definition from the edge of the stage, Main gives a large, unified sound using a Decca tree with outriggers, and Surround adds depth and space from the back of the stage.

The Soft mood suits intimate writing, Classic suits a traditional orchestral sound, and Epic suits a large cinematic sound. The interface color changes to show the selected mood.
