01Overview

Gravity 2 is Heavyocity's follow-up to the original Gravity, built for composers who need cues, rhythmic beds and dramatic hits. The library combines tonal, atonal and modal textures with tempo-synced pedals and layered transitions. Its three engines let you choose between keyboard-mapped menus and a designer instrument for complex layering. The developer describes the sources as drawn from junkyard noises, mechanical sounds and analog synths.

Sound Sources and Character

Gravity 2 contains more than 1,000 sound sources, grouped into rhythmic pedals, textures, stings, transitions and impacts. The rhythmic pedals include 144 multisampled, tempo-synced loops, so they can lock to your session tempo. Textures are split into tonal sounds for melodies and harmonies, atonal sounds for eerie atmospheres, and modal sounds for chordal backgrounds.

Heavyocity says the sources were processed through analog signal chains and layered and heavily processed until they carry the brand's signature sound. The collection also includes 252 single-shot stings and 324 transitions, which are reverses, swells and risers in low and high variations.

The 144 Gravity Hits are split into Full, Sub, Mid and Tail layers, so you can mix the parts to build everything from big hits to subtler moments.

Workflow, Controls and Engines

The instrument offers three engines. Gravity 2 Designer allows complex layering, while Gravity 2 Menu and Gravity 2 Menu XL map sounds across 36 and 72 keys for quick curation. You can load sources from a browser of more than 1,000 items across three banks, and expand a single sound across the whole keyboard.

Each channel has its own FX controls for envelope, tone, drive, motion and space. The advanced mixer offers drift, scatter and recordable automation. A macro knob handles multi-parameter control and sequencing, and performance controls manage tempo sync, start times and sequencing. A custom master FX section includes punish, compression, reverb and delay, and a settings page covers legato, glide, sustain and velocity.

The library also ships with more than 600 custom-designed presets to use as starting points.
