01Overview

FLTRS is built around filter circuits modeled on classic hardware, including Minimoog-era, Buchla-style and MS-20-style designs. Each algorithm is a complete filter instrument with its own controls, condensed into three XYZ macro axes for quick shaping. The plugin can process synth sounds, drum buses or vocals, and it includes an envelope follower and AniMod for movement. MNTRA says its Anima Circuits technology is the basis for the filter models.

Filter Circuits and Sound Character

The collection spans 12 analog-style circuits, 8 experimental physics engines and 5 spectral processors. The analog set includes ladder, OTA, state-variable and diode-based designs, along with several revisions of vintage synthesizer filters.

The developer says the circuits are modeled on the physical behavior of components, which it links to filter self-oscillation and high-input drive. Several algorithms add features that the original hardware did not have, such as an adjustable stereo chorus on the Juno-106-style filter and continuous morphing between lowpass, notch and highpass on the MS-20-style filter.

Workflow, Controls and Stacking

Each algorithm is controlled through three main XYZ macro axes, so you can shape a sound without working through every parameter. An envelope follower and AniMod let the filter respond to the signal and move on its own.

FLTRS can be run in series with other instances, delays and reverbs. The developer states that its DSP is CPU-efficient, which makes stacking several instances practical in one session.
