01Overview

Filtomika brings the twisted filter character of the Polivoks synthesizer into a processing plugin. Cherry Audio based it on the expanded multi-mode filter from its Atomika virtual instrument, with circuit-modeled DSP by developer Mark Barton. Beyond the original hardware, it adds Starve, Filter Drive and Amp Drive controls, extra filter responses and a wider selection of LFO waveforms. It can be placed as an insert or bus effect and accepts mono or stereo input.

Filter Character and Sound Shaping

At its core, Filtomika reproduces the programmable op-amp filter designed by sound engineer Vladimir Kuzmin. Cherry Audio extends it with lowpass and bandpass modes, plus highpass, notch and peak responses that the original hardware did not offer.

The Starve, Filter Drive and Amp Drive controls push the signal into more aggressive territory. The envelope follower lets the input level drive the cutoff, which suits guitar, bass and drum loops and produces autowah-style movement.

Modulation, Presets and Control

The syncable LFO offers ramp, sawtooth, triangle, square, noise and random (sample and hold) waveforms for rhythmic filter motion.

A preset browser includes over 30 presets for drums, guitars, sound effects and synths, with favoriting and user presets. MIDI learn and mapping work per preset or globally, and all controls are automatable from your DAW.

The interface supports Cherry Audio's Focus zoom-in feature, standard zoom and drag-to-resize. Full documentation is available inside the plugin or as a PDF.
