01Overview

FireCharger is built to add energy to dull or tired-sounding material. Its core is an intelligent spectral dynamics engine that analyzes the audio and moves it toward the balance United Plugins' sound engineers consider ideal. Most of the time, the developer says, you only need to load a preset and adjust the Dry/Wet knob to set how strong the change is. Beyond spectral processing, it includes a tape-machine saturation stage and an exciter for high-frequency presence, and it can be used on single tracks or as a final processor on a master bus.

Spectral Charging, Saturation and Brightness Controls

The main control set is small. Anodize sets how much energy the tracks temporarily gain from the charger when they need it, so it is the key control for pushing the processing harder or easier.

Magnetize adds vintage tube tape-machine saturation, which the developer describes as a way to add warmth and a live feel. Tone drives a height dynamic exciter that brings out the higher frequencies to make a track brighter.

The Dry/Wet knob sets how radical the change is, which makes it easy to blend the effect back in at a subtle level.

Workflow: Single Tracks and Mastering

FireCharger can sit at the end of a plugin chain as a mastering processor or be applied to individual tracks. United Plugins lists acoustic guitars and vocals for body and brightness, drums and bass guitar for improvement, and electric guitar for extra charge.
