01Overview

The EVE-AT4 is an equalizer modeled after the classic Neve 1084, a successor to the Neve 1073. Kuassa presents it as a modern tribute to that design. It has fewer bands and frequency choices than its sibling, the EVE-AT1, but its filter implementation gives it a distinct frequency response. The developer positions it as a character EQ for adding weight, reducing muddiness or lifting presence, and it is suited to tracks and mix buses alike.

Sound and Filter Character

Kuassa describes the EVE-AT4 as a character equalizer. Its three bands offer boost and cut of approximately plus or minus 18 dB in Narrow Q mode and plus or minus 12 dB in Broad Q mode. Narrow and broad bandwidth can be selected, so you can work from surgical corrections to wide tonal shaping.

The band filters can be switched between shelf and peak modes. The developer notes that the filter design gives the EQ its own frequency response, which differs from the EVE-AT1.

Workflow and Key Controls

Dedicated high-pass and low-pass filters run at -18 dB per octave, which helps clear rumble or excess top end. An output trim control and a phase reverse button are included.

The A/B compare and A/B copy buttons let you audition settings against each other while you work, so you can check changes quickly before committing to a setting.

The plugin is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats on Windows and macOS, and includes a trial version.
