Electrum Core: Lightweight Guitar Amp and Cab Plugin by United Plugins Free Download

Electrum Core provides five guitar amps with different levels of gain and distortion. All five share the same controls, so switching between amps does not require relearning the interface. United Plugins says the amps were modeled after some of the most respected amps on the market, with additional perks that let you shape a custom amp.

The cabinet section offers 16 cabinet types combined with 21 alterations, which the developer describes as more than 300 models. You can add resonances and ambience to each cabinet. United Plugins states that its cabinet simulation is designed to deliver a natural sound that impulse responses cannot fully reproduce.

The Analyse Input Level button is the quickest way to start. Play your guitar as hard as you intend to during the session, press the button, and the plugin adjusts the input level to match its processing sweet spot. Correct gain staging keeps the amp and cab stages working as designed.

The resizable interface can be scaled by dragging the corner, so you can make it compact in a busy session or larger when you are dialing in tone. Smart Bypass avoids clicks and noise when you automate bypass, and latency compensation keeps the bypassed and processed signals in sync. The plugin also goes into a sleep mode when there is no signal, which reduces CPU use.
