Two controls for fast, transparent de-essing
DSR uses a Threshold control and a Range control. Threshold sets the level in dB at which the de-esser starts applying gain reduction. The threshold acts on an internally fine-tuned sidechain signal that focuses on the most problematic regions of the vocal.
Range limits how much gain reduction can occur. With a range of -6 dB, for example, the de-esser will reduce sibilance by up to 6 dB and no further. This lets you set the amount of reduction you want, so the vocal is tamed without sounding dull.
