01Overview

Dreamsynth is modeled on the hybrid analog and digital synthesizers of the late 1980s, instruments that paired digital oscillators with analog-style filters. Cherry Audio's design uses six oscillators across three dual-waveform sections, with up to 16 voices of polyphony. Its stereo filters, an independent 16-voice string synth and a wide modulation matrix give producers a flexible starting point for pads, leads, basses and evolving textures.

Oscillators, Waveforms and Sound Character

Three dual-waveform oscillators provide six simultaneous virtual analog or PCM sample-based oscillators. The synth includes 430 looping, one-shot and single-cycle waveforms, so you can combine modeled analog shapes with sampled material. When modulation is applied, the A/B wave mix controls can produce evolving or rhythmic vector tones.

The OB-style 12 dB/octave multimode stereo filters cover a wide range, from subtle shaping to aggressive resonant sweeps. Analog drift control adds slight pitch and tuning variation for a less static sound.

Modulation, Effects and Performance Features

Dreamsynth offers 20 modulation sources and more than 40 destinations, including effects parameters. Routings are set through pop-up menus and invertible knobs, and three tempo-syncable LFOs add rhythmic motion. Polyphonic aftertouch can serve as a polyphonic modulation source.

The effects section includes distortion and sample-crushing options, a 12-stage phaser, chorus, flanger, rotary speaker, delay and reverb, including the new Galactic reverb algorithm. MPE support is available when used with a DAW and a controller that supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression.
