Disarray is built around an XY pad inspired by the KAOSS pads of earlier years. Moving a single point across the plane can change several effect parameters together. The developer describes the interface as simple to set up, with up to 8 dimensions of control across as many as 4 effects. Beyond its onboard effects, Disarray can host your existing VST and AU plugins, so you can route their parameters into the same XY space.
Each control point in the XY space can be linked to any parameter on any effect, and the points can be set to radial or linear movement. Stagecraft Software says this makes it possible to enable or disable effects with mouse and MIDI input, and to trigger changes in real time.
An automation loop recorder captures a repeating XY sequence over 1, 2 or 4 measures. That gives you a way to build evolving movement that repeats in sync with your project.
Parameters are designed to write and read automation from the host DAW. Stagecraft Software says this makes it practical to create filter build-ups, slow phase shifts that lead into a drop, or crossfades between several effects.
