Stutter Probability, Timing and Quantization
The core of Glitch Machine is probability control. Instead of only deciding that a stutter happens, you decide how likely it is to happen at any point in the measure. Lower the probability across most of the bar and the glitches become sparse and deliberate. Raise it on the offbeats and you get dense, syncopated chops.
Stutter length, timing and other characteristics all come with quantization options. Switching between straight, triplet and dotted note timing is a matter of choosing a grid value rather than retuning by ear. Pitch shifts can also be quantized to a set of scales, which keeps pitched glitches in key with the track.
Because the rhythmic grid is adjustable, the same tool can produce tight, on-beat stutters or looser, off-grid textures depending on the settings you choose.
