Splitting Attack and Sustain for Transient Control
The core idea of dime[tt] is separating a signal into a transient layer and a tonal layer. The transient is a sudden change in loudness over a short period, while the tonal layer is the tail that follows the attack. Keeping them apart lets you treat each one differently.
You tune the split with sensitivity and decay controls, which determine how the plugin detects transients and how the sustain is shaped. Time off audio positions this as a way to avoid parallel processing, auxiliary busses and custom sends, which are the usual methods for achieving the same result in a standard mix.
