01Overview

dime[mb] is the multiband member of the dime family from time off audio. Instead of bundling its own processors, it provides the splitting, routing and mixing framework. You set up to five bands, then load plugins you already own into each band's chain. Crossovers can be dragged directly in the spectrum display or entered numerically, so you can shape each frequency range with the tools you already use.

Band splitting and crossover control

dime[mb] creates between two and five bands with adjustable crossover points. The crossover slope is 24 dB per octave. You can drag the divisions directly in the real-time spectrum or type exact frequencies, which helps when you need to match a specific range across tracks.

Two processing modes are available. Zero latency mode uses IIR crossovers with no added delay. Linear phase mode uses FIR crossovers for phase accuracy, and the added latency is reported to the host. Band mute and solo let you isolate a range and check what each plugin is doing to it.

Per-band plugin hosting and mix

Each band can host up to four VST3 or AU plugins with their embedded interfaces. The plugin format of dime[mb] itself does not restrict which formats you can load inside a band. Hosted parameters can be mapped to dime[mb] controls, so you can adjust key settings without opening each plugin window.

Every band has its own dry/wet mix from 0 to 100 percent and an output trim of plus or minus 12 dB. Global input gain, output gain and overall wet/dry mix sit at the top level, and light and dark interface themes are included.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What is dime[mb] used for?

dime[mb] splits audio into frequency bands so you can process each one separately. You load your own VST3 or AU plugins into each band's chain to treat that range independently.

Which plugin formats does dime[mb] support?

dime[mb] is available in VST3 and AU formats. Within a band, it can load either VST3 or AU plugins, regardless of which format dime[mb] itself runs as.

What do I need to use dime[mb]?

dime[mb] includes no built-in effects, so you need your own VST3 or AU plugins to load into the band chains.

Does dime[mb] add latency?

It depends on the mode. Zero latency mode uses IIR crossovers with no added delay. Linear phase mode uses FIR crossovers, and the resulting latency is reported to the host.
