01Overview

David Oliver's Rhythmic Odyssey is a Kontakt instrument built from live percussion performances by British instrumentalist and media composer David Oliver. The collection covers more than 130 instruments, from drum kits to unusual found objects, arranged into over 100 percussion track sets that range from ethnic combos to hard-driving rock grooves. Alongside the instrument, Soundiron includes an unlocked, non-encrypted WAV library for use in any DAW or sampler. Loop Browsing, Slicing and Sound Shaping

The built-in loop browser filters by style, instrument keyword, tempo and time signature, and lets you star favorite loops for quick recall. Loaded loops appear in a slot grid where each loop can be edited down to the individual transient slice. You can adjust playback direction, slice order and ADSR, and draw custom step-automation for volume, pitch, pan, filter cutoff and resonance.

The Stereo Master preset gives you fully mixed percussion beds that load quickly and use less memory. The Multitrack presets offer up to four sub-mix tracks with tempo-synced step sequencing and per-slice control over performance, effects, modulation and automation. Each track can also be loaded as a separate Kontakt instrument for finer control over routing and resource use.

Effects Rack and WAV Library

The modular FX rack provides 27 DSP effect modules, with up to 8 slots that can be ordered as you like. The module list includes phase, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cabinet simulators, compressors, EQ and rotator effects. The reverb section includes 99 convolution impulse responses captured in real-world rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor spaces, plus 40 special-effect impulses.

The WAV library is split into an average of 8 solo and sub-mix tracks per performance, plus wet and dry stereo masters, with more than 6,500 loops in total. Long, readable sample names and a loop database in the Documentation folder make it easier to search and arrange loops.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to use Rhythmic Odyssey?

Rhythmic Odyssey runs in Kontakt. It is made for the free Kontakt Player (version 7.1.8 or later), and it also works with Komplete Kontrol, S-Series keyboards and NKS software and hardware by Native Instruments.

Which formats and operating systems are supported?

The instrument is available in VST2, AU, AAX and Kontakt formats. It supports Windows 7 or higher and macOS 10.12 or higher, with a dual-core CPU and 3 GB of system RAM recommended.

Can I use the loops outside Kontakt?

Yes. A full non-encrypted 24-bit, 48 kHz stereo WAV library is included, so the loops can be used in any DAW, sampler, plugin or hardware unit that supports WAV files.
