Tube Saturation and Harmonic Character
Raising the Drive control pushes the signal through the modeled 6BC8 tube and its surrounding analog circuit. Harmonics build as the drive increases, and transients are rounded in a controlled way, which adds weight and warmth to a track.
Switching to transformer coupling inserts the output transformer into the signal path. With Calibration centered, the stage produces mostly odd-order harmonics, which tend to add focus and punch. Calibration adjusts the tube bias point, so you can introduce even-order harmonics when you want more warmth or contour.
