01Overview

Channel G HD v7 is built around a console-style signal path. McDSP splits it into three configurations: G Dynamics, with an Expander/Gate and a Compressor/Limiter; G Equalizer, a five-band EQ with shelving and parametric sections; and G Console, which combines both. Each configuration includes calibration modes for music, post production and several classic analog mixing desks, and the plugin offers mono and stereo versions for different tracking and mixing needs.

Dynamics, EQ and Filters in One Channel Strip

The dynamics section pairs a full-featured Expander/Gate with a Compressor/Limiter. The Compressor/Limiter can run before or after the EQ section, which changes how the two stages interact on a track.

The filter section offers high pass, low pass and notch modes, with selectable slopes from 6 to 24 dB/Oct. The five-band EQ combines shelving and parametric sections, so you can shape broad tonal changes and narrow corrections within the same strip.

Real time analyzers are included to help you see what the processing is doing as you adjust it.

Sound Character and Processing Details

Channel G HD v7 includes analog saturation modeling, which adds harmonic coloration to the signal. McDSP highlights zero latency algorithms and double precision processing, which are relevant when you are monitoring and mixing in real time.

The interfaces have been redrawn in high definition, and the plugin ships with new presets to start from. McDSP states that the v7 release is optimized for Apple Silicon and recent Intel processors.

Each license includes two activations. The plugin is authorized through an iLok2 or iLok3 USB Smart Key, or through a free iLok License Manager account with iLok Cloud.
