01Overview

CenterOne 3 targets the center of a stereo image rather than the whole width of a track. Leapwing describes its Center Prominence technology as identifying the phantom center of a stereo signal so its level can be changed while unique left and right content stays as it is. The plugin adds EQ, multiband and sidechain processing, so you can set where and when that center adjustment happens, not only how much of it you apply. It is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats for Windows and macOS.

03In depth

Center extraction and per-band control

CenterOne 3 splits the stereo signal into left, center and right zones. Leapwing's Left-Center-Right extraction gives direct access to the phantom-center and side information, and a center extraction-width control sets how tightly the phantom center is isolated.

Within each frequency band you can apply independent gain and mute to the L, C and R zones. Two parametric EQ bands can each be assigned to the LR or Center processing zone, so the center can be shaped separately from the wider stereo content.

Sidechain and dynamics for stereo mixes

The plugin offers internal and external sidechain sources, with selectable frequency and spatial targets. This lets the center processing respond to the material you choose, for example to make room for a lead element in a dense arrangement.

Threshold, ratio, attack, release and range controls provide focused dynamic processing. A/B comparison, copy, undo and redo help you check changes at matched levels, and full parameter automation and preset management are included. In compatible hosts, extracted L, C and R auxiliary outputs are available alongside the stereo main output.
