01Overview

Brauer Motion is built around movement rather than simple left and right panning. Two linkable auto-panners let you place a sound in the stereo field and set it in motion, so it can drift subtly or swing across the image in a more dramatic way. The developer describes the plugin as a tool for creative inspiration, and it was created with Michael Brauer, whose mix work is known for its use of space. Waves lists VST2, AU and AAX formats for Mac and Windows.

Spherical Panning Paths and Sound Movement

Each of the two auto-panners offers four different panning paths, which go beyond conventional left and right movement. Waves says the plugin can make any sound dance within the stereo field, moving elements toward the front or further back in the mix.

The two panners can be linked, so you can run them together for a coordinated motion or keep them independent for more complex stereo movement.

Rhythm, Tempo Sync and Modulation

Brauer Motion offers five triggering options and sync-to-tempo, so panning movement can lock to your project's rhythm. Flexible modulation gives you further control over how the motion evolves over time.

Waves recommends the plugin for giving motion and rhythm to pads, swells and orchestral sections. It can also shift percussive sounds subtly so they do not feel static, and move background vocals off-center to leave space for lead vocals.
