01Overview

Miaow Wah goes beyond a single wah sound. The developer describes it as an augmented wah pedal simulator that covers classic wah models from several eras, and it can also be used for flangy tones, univibes, phasing and filtered tremolo effects. You can drive the filter with an expression pedal, an envelope follower for auto operation, or an LFO. A built-in Wah editor and the Tone Maps explorer let you build custom filters or find new tones. The plugin ships with more than 200 presets.

Wah Models, Custom Filters and Tone Maps

The plugin includes 29 predefined classic wah models. If none of them fits, the built-in Wah editor lets you design your own filter. The Tone Maps explorer is aimed at finding new sounds quickly, which is useful when you want a starting point rather than building a filter from scratch.

Because the filter can be set up in different ways, the same engine can produce wah-style sweeps, univibe-style movement, phasing and filtered tremolo. That makes it useful beyond guitar wah parts.

Control Options and Host Sync

Miaow Wah offers three ways to move the filter. An expression pedal gives manual, performance-style control. The auto mode uses the signal envelope, so the filter responds to the dynamics of the input. The LFO mode runs the filter as a modulation source, and its rate can be synced to the host application's tempo.

The plugin also supports full MIDI control, automation and MIDI Learn, so you can map the filter parameters to the controls you use in your session.
